Who Is Hartify?

We advise to, build and invest in companies that have a true, deep-seated passion to solve problems. We do this through starting and launching our own brands, partnering with passionate entrepreneurs to help build scale; and through the acquisition of existing concepts.

 

We also consult or act as advisors to companies that want and need some outside thinking.

We work with people who bring heart, purpose and passion to everything they do.

How we do it:
We build stakes by leveraging experience & skill, working with the entrepreneur to scale up brands, including possible cash investment or raising capital when needed. No cash investment only.


 

Culture is our secret weapon.

We have helped build an artfully designed an award-winning culture (top in Canada) through our maniacal focus on bringing core values to life.  We believe  that culture is the foundation of building a scalable brand.  If this isn’t important to you, then we are not a good fit.

Purpose + Profit= Happiness.

Why we do things is just as important as the financial success. While we always build a financially feasible money- making model, everything we do has to stand for something greater; something that we can passionately pursue and fight for, even when the chips are down. Building profitable enterprises is equally important, and we believe that purpose is the competitive advantage.

Brand.

This is the combination of culture, purpose and operational execution, not the logo and colours. Brand is about who we are and what we stand for, and this is our differentiator in a crowded marketplace.

 

Building scale. 


Many entrepreneurs can build a concept; few can build scale. We spent many years at Nurse Next Door learning this - making huge investments in learning along the way. We bring two pieces of “scale” expertise in particular:
 

 

 

Scalable business practices:

Do you want to be big, do you want to be great, or do you want to be both? The system we adhere to allows big as well as great: We use best practices and systems for hiring, performance management, strategy, execution, communication, good governance, leadership coaching, operational problem-solving and metrics.

 

 

Franchise systems:

This is the model we like to scale with. When done right, we can build high performance brands that are great for the customer, great for the Franchise Partner and great for the Franchisor. We can get a brand ready for launch by building a franchise plan and systems, launch the franchise system and create the franchise sales program and the support system for franchisees.

Gayla DeHart

Gayla has a Ph.D. in Psychology, is an executive coach, and Family Enterprise Advisor, a mediator and works with companies to provide leadership on branding, culture, communication, execution, governance and strategy. She is a problem-solver and a talented project manager.

Devoted to working with like-minded enthusiasts who want to bring culture and core values alive, who want to be disruptive in their dedication to building new types of companies, who want to create brands that transcend the latest fad, Gayla works with leaders who aren't afraid of working hard and putting the systems in place to build a strong, profitable business.

Family business advising is a passion, digging deep in multi-stakeholder environments, group facilitation and advocating for transformation change among families and leadership teams, including shaking up business strategy development to align with core values and purpose, the people side of business is her playground.

John DeHart

John is the change agent at Hartify. He won’t do anything that won’t be radically unique. His unique talent is the ability to create something from nothing - and doing it at hyper-speed. He calls it his "to 80% completion" talent.

Before co-founding Nurse Next Door, John attended Cornell University, and spent his early years starting and building B2B web-based technology companies. John exited NND in 2019.

John co-founded the Franchise Growth Lab https://franchisegrowthlab.com and, along with a world class team, provides expert consulting and guidance for scaling franchise businesses quickly and efficiently and is Past- Chair of the Canadian Franchise Association.

Advisor Work

We can only launch one or two brands at a time. But there are many passionate, purpose-driven businesses, brands, entrepreneurs and leaders that we would love to work with. So, we have developed what we call our advisor program.

We will work with you to help you create the scalable business systems you need to grow your business, to build out your brand, or any other organizational issue or opportunity you have.

BUT: Since we can only work with a few companies, we have to LOVE what you are doing. We work with companies of all sizes and have developed a financial model that works for almost any size of company
